As baby photographers it’s important that we have a fully stocked studio full of props, throws and of course shawls. We really wanted the very best high quality shawls in our studio so what better recommendation was there than the Duchess of Cambridge who emerged from St Mary’s Hospital with their daughter, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, wrapped in one of the GH Hurt and Son traditional hand finished shawls.
We have been using the same royal baby blanket since Prince George was born in 2013.
It turns out that the much sought after baby blankets from Nottingham based GH Hurt & Son Ltd have been used since November 1948, for the birth of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s first child, Prince Charles.
Prince Charles and Dina then continued the tradition of using the GH Hurt and Son shawls with the birth of Prince William in June 1982.
A spokesperson from GH Hurt and Son said: “We feel honoured that William and Kate have chosen to use our shawls and in doing so have continued a tradition for the next generation of royals. We all thought our shawl looked fabulous. They all looked fabulous. The new royal princess is delightful.”
I am lucky enough to personally own one of the super-fine merino wool christening shawls and used it for some photos with my newborn daughter when she was just six days old.
We are delighted to exclusively offer only G.H. Hurt & Son shawls in our baby photography sessions and we have the entire range for parents to choose from. This beautiful range of baby shawls and blankets add a touch of luxury. Hand finished and knitted in the finest yarns, these christening shawls are perfect for wrapping a newborn baby and making them feel as comfortable as possible.
Some of the favourite baby blankets include the Super-fine Merino Wool Christening Shawl which is made from super-fine merino wool is a soft and gentle way to keep your baby cosy. Knitted in a lovely ivory white, it is ideal for use as an elegant Christening shawl or special occasion blanket. Each shawl is hand-finished with a scalloped edge, in the traditional Shetland way.
Another popular choice is the Teddy Alphabet Baby Shawl which is a cute baby shawl with teddy and alphabet design. Made with a mix of fine merino wool and soft cotton.
For that extra bit of luxury there’s the Cosy Cashmere Baby Shawl, an adorable super soft knitted cashmere shawl will keep your baby snug and warm. This sumptuous shawl really is something special.
