Most of our newborn baby photography sessions are done in our Wimbledon studio as it allows us to create the perfect environment for your baby pictures. Each of our newborn sessions last at least a couple of hours so it’s a good idea to be prepared. We’ve put together a checklist of frequently asked questions that will help make your baby photos just that little bit better.
Newborn Photography Session Checklist
Age of the baby
5–10 days is preferred
Temperature of the studio
80–85 degrees. Please dress yourselves comfortably.
Boys and circumcision
Schedule at least five days after procedure
How long the session will last
Approximately two to three hours
What to do ahead of the session
A sleepy baby is best for newborn sessions so do try and keep your baby awake for an hour or two before the session.
What to dress the baby in
Keep it simple. Bring a couple of baby grows. Most outfits will be too big for baby. Most of the pictures baby will be naked or wrapped.
Feeding ahead of time
Within a half an hour of the session, but do not worry about this too much as there will be time to feed once you are here.
What props to bring
Blankets, wraps or special toys. Anything you might have used in the bump session.
Nutrition Guide. For breast-feeding mothers
Avoid acidic foods, such as lemons, oranges, berries, pizza, spaghetti, chilli, and tomato products.
Clothing for parents and siblings.
Simple, solid colours; avoid logos. Bring a change for yourselves. Accidents do happen.
Other things to bring
Lots of nappies, wipes and extra milk
Big brothers and sisters are free to play in Eddie Catz whilst we are concentrating on photographing baby but they must be supervised.
