Photographing twins and multiples can be as challenging as it is delightful. It’s always a pleasure when they arrive in our Wimbledon studio but we know that sometimes taking the trip here after a c section can be a rather uncomfortable journey.
Whilst our Wimbledon studio is kitted out with plenty of props needed for a newborn photography session that doesn’t mean we can’t bring a few to you!
On request we do offer the option of having your newborn session in the comfort of your own home instead of our Wimbledon studio. This is of course subject to our availability and you would need to be in a reasonable travelling distance from Epsom or Wimbledon.
Recently we photographed two week old twins Emily and Harry at their home in Worcester Park.
Born at 35 weeks both twins were tiny but perfect. Getting them to sleep wasn’t too much of an issue as they both proved to be the perfect models.
When I arrived at their home both twins were asleep in their cot, both content after a mid morning feed.
This is always a nice way to begin a shoot. When taking newborn twins photos in your home its great if they do have a feed prior to our arrival but not essential. What’s most important is that they stick to the beginnings of their routine…….or as much as a routine as a two week old has!
Whilst the twins were still in their cot I took a few natural photos of them sleeping. These were completely unposed and I thought made a nice start to the images.
I then brought them over to my little background set-up made from one of the throws that I brought with me from the studio and began to take some simple photos of them together.
Normally with twins the tricky thing is getting them both asleep at them same time but I didn’t seem to have that problem with thingy and thingy. In fact as we progressed through the poses they seemed to be getting more and more comfortable.
Whilst we do have a selection of props, wraps and blankets it’s nice to introduce some personalisation into the newborn shoot. If you are having newborn twins photos in your home then try to leave out a selection of toys or personal items that we might introduce into the shoot.
Mum and Dad had already prepared a prop selection which included a couple of lovely blankets and a New York Yankees hat and baseball.
Of course I absolutely had to introduce these props into the session!
Mum Fiona was nice enough to share a little bit about their newborn photo session at home. You can see more reviews in our Facebook Page.
We had an excellent experience using Michael to take photos of our newborn twins. Due to logistics and recovering from a C-Section Michael was very flexible and visited us at home to carry out the photo shoot. He was amazing with the twins and knew exactly how to work with them to get the best shots. His patience and calmness kept the twins calm so we got some brilliant photos. I would highly recommend Michael and his team to anyone who was thinking of having newborn photos undertaken.
At the end of the photo session the twins were put back to bed but I did notice a rather adorable opportunity to have a photo of their feet popping out of the cot. This was to be my last frame of the day before I made my way back to our Wimbledon studio for an afternoon of more baby photos!

If you are pregnant then our Bumps to Babies offer is a great deal that includes both a maternity and newborn photo session.
Newborn photos in your home do carry an additional charge to those taken in the studio.
