Winner of our February image of the Month studio portrait competition. Photo to be displayed in the Photo Cafe Croydon just off the Purley Way.
Last year we opened our brand new portrait studio and photo cafe in Croydon. To celebrate the opening and our tenth year in business we launched an Image of the Month competition.
The winner each month will receive one of our signature wall art pieces after it spends a little time on the wall of the Photo Cafe.
Entry to the competition is simple and open to anyone who has a photoshoot at our Croydon studio; when you come to order your images at your viewing session choose an image you’d like us to share on our Facebook page.
Out of the three most popular images a judge will pick a winner.
The criteria for the winning image is entirely up to the Judge (which changes each month).
This month we had a runaway winner for popularity on our Facebook pages and out of the all the images shortlisted it was picked as our winner.
The image was taken during a newborn session and it’s one of my favourite images to create.
Newborns are always best photographed in the first two weeks but even then they’ll not sleep through the whole photoshoot.
What is great about this pose in particular is that it works if baby is awake, sleeping or older than the desired two weeks.
What I really like about this type of photo is that it’s the sort of image that as a parent you’ll appreciate more and more.
As that tiny baby grows from that little bundle scooped up in your arms to big chubby baby sometimes it’s easy to forget how small they actaully were.
This photo is more personal as it has dad’s hands in and you really get a sense of how small our little model is.

I’m looking forward to having this image up in our gallery in the Photo Cafe for a couple of weeks before it goes home with mum and dad.
